Brighton Jewry 250: An Anthology of the Brighton & Hove Jewish Community 1766-2016 (edited by Godfrey Gould and Michael Crook) was produced by members of the Sussex branch of the Jewish Historical Society of England (JHSE), to commemorate 250 years since the first record of a Jewish resident in Brighton. Israel Samuel gave his address as 22 East Street, Brighton when he married in London on 31st December 1766. It covers a wide range of topics, including the history of the synagogues and congregations in the City, Communal Organisations, Sports Clubs and Youth, Schools and Education and a chapter on some of the Jewish History Makers of the last 250 years.

Rabbi Pesach Efune –The founder of Lubavitch Brighton, and rabbi to the Brighton & Hove Hebrew Congregation 1999 to 2008.
Gary Epstein –A member of Carmel Tennis Club, and is now treasurer of the Brighton & Hove Jewish Welfare Board.
Steve Field – A member of Maccabi Cricket Club.
Gordon Franks–A historian of the local Jewish community, and a committee member of the Sussex Brach of the Jewish Historical Society of England.
Hilary Freedman– A joint director of Hillel House.
Jackie Fuller– Chair of Sussex Jewish Film Club.
Gerry Gable–Editor of Searchlight, and an active member of anti-Fascist groups in London and Brighton.
Martin Gilmour–Former legacy director of UJIA, and a leading supporter of JIA in Brighton.
Debra Goodman–A member of the chair team of the Sussex Jewish Representative Council and a vice chairman of Brighton & Hove Reform Synagogue.
David Gordon – A former member of the Maccabi football team.
Godfrey Gould– A historian of the local Jewish community, and former chair of the Jewish Historical Society of Great Britain – Sussex Branch.
Aileen Hill– A joint director of Hillel House.
Judy Ironside–The founder of the Brighton Jewish Film Festival, now the UK Jewish Film Festival.
